Gather the strength

January work depression

It sits on your chest like a rhino. The New Year brings the hideous reality that you’ll have to return to work after the holiday break.

For many of us, despite having passed the winter solstice, this is the darkest day of the year. As you prepare yourself you can hear your black dog panting behind your shoulder, it is ready to chase you down and smother you.

The painful repetition and monotony and of having to deal with the demands of the daily trudge weigh heavy but there is support available

I have been in the deepest depths of depression and only came through it with the help of others. I struggle to remain on an even keel and know that I am always walking a very fine path. This time of year is always extremely difficult for me but if you feel the same then please remember that there are people here to support you.

Gather the strength to reach out. The Samaritans are there to help you.
